Maria Alfrey, LICSW

Hello, it’s an honor to meet you! Being a therapist gives me the privilege of bearing witness to some of my clients’ deepest and most intimate thoughts, relationships, and life experiences. I never take that privilege lightly. My hope is to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and comfortable enough to be your authentic self. I’d love to share a little about myself so you can get to know me, too.

I have worked in the social work field in a variety of roles for nearly 10 years, with much of my experience focused on supporting system-involved adolescents and their families. For the past three years, I have worked specifically as a therapist, providing services to clients ages 8 and older.

I’ve called Omaha home for the past 10 years, although I was born and raised in a suburb of Chicago. Outside of therapy, I’m a wife and mom of three human children and 4 others (2 dogs and 2 cats). Some of my favorite things include spending time outdoors, swimming, baking, eating donuts, daydreaming about being on Survivor, and attempting DIY home projects (if I could be anyone, it would probably be Joanna Gaines!).

One of my favorite quotes comes from one of my favorite Disney movies, Mulan: “The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all.” I love this reminder that although the struggles we face can be incredibly difficult, they can also shape us in meaningful ways and, in time, produce something beautiful.
